Strathcom Goes To The Movies – Avengers: Infinity War

WARNING: Spoilers for Avengers: Infinity War ahead.

Last Thursday, everyone in the Strathcom office assembled and went for a company outing to the movies.

We all met at the Scotiabank Theater in West Edmonton Mall, reminisced over the old fire-breathing dragon, squeezed synthetic butter-like liquid to our popcorn, then laughed as some of us failed to reach the top rankings on the Cineplex Timeplay app before the movie (editors note: We laughed at Lawrence, our author, for failing to reach the top rankings).

Needless to say, after watching the latest installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, everyone had their own opinion on the movie. Some of us loved all the action and laugh-out-loud moments, others weren’t really into superhero movies, and the rest of us are still processing the giant death count that Thanos racked up throughout the film.

Here’s what everyone had to say about the movie as half the office turns to dust:

Those In Mourning

“My sister warned me about this. I grew up with fairy tales and happily ever after, so I wasn’t ready for this.”
Darene Cole, Content Strategist and candidate for sainthood

“I am so sad. But I’m also so mad. I can’t right now.”
Ana Bohorquez, Web Designer and Disney Connoisseur

“I was gonna do work when I got home, but I fell into a black hole. I kept watching Youtube videos about what might happen in the next movie, but everything still sucks.”
Conor Carroll, Online Advertising Strategist and the key to my heart

“The entire time I was sitting there waiting and thinking ‘OK so when do they win?’ And then it just cut out and everyone in the movie theatre was like OOOHHHHH.”
Wesley Phuong, Online Advertising Strategist, Office Gone Guy

The Optimists

While some of us are still processing our feelings, others remembered that Tom Holland and Chadwick Boseman signed up for more Spiderman and Black Panther movies so they’re pretty optimistic about their odds of returning.

“I was reading an article about how kids and adults processed Infinity War differently; it said that kids were crying and asking ‘why would they do this to Spider-Man?!’ whereas adults just kept thinking to themselves: ‘Meh, he’s signed up for 3 more movies, I think we’re good.’ That’s basically how I feel. Also, I fell asleep during the fight scene in Wakanda. Yet another CGI snooze fest :/”
Taylor Zottl, Content Strategist and Morning Starbucks Liaison

“We’re jaded pessimistic people who don’t believe in anything we see and the ending had no effect on us whatsoever. It’s the old bait and switch where we all saw it and went ‘aahhhh’. Fool me once, shame on me. That was my hot take.”
Nathan Leverette, Director of Online Advertising and Movie Trivia Enthusiast

Other Notable Commentary

“I had to come in a little early to the office the next morning. No one saw me though because I’ve mastered the ability of standing so incredibly still that I become invisible to the eye.”
Troy Eberhardt, Director of Support and Syndication, Office Comedian

“When Black Panther was saying ‘Wakanda Forever’, I thought he was asking ‘Wakanda pho do you want?”
Danny Tran, Web Designer and Muscular Teddy Bear

These were some of our thoughts and reviews on Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War. While Thanos may have accomplished wiping out half of the universe with the snap of his fingers, you can still count on Strathcom to save you from low website traffic!
