2013 Edmonton Motor Show Highlights

Strathcom was lucky enough to be at the Edmonton Motor Show Precious Metal Gala last week where we checked out some of the cool new cars on the market and got treated to a show by some crazy and, thankfully, talented aerialists as well as great food and a fun crowd. Here’s what we saw:

Ford’s Super-Cool Driving Simulator

One of the coolest tech pieces at the show was Ford’s driving simulator, set at a vertigo-inducing height off the ground (15 feet or so!) and surrounded with TV screens on all sides to let you feel like you were really driving in a performance vehicle. Everyone could see you inside from below to make it easier to see you make a complete fool of yourself!

Since we couldn’t actually drive Ford’s new Atlas concept truck at the show, the simulation was tuned to the new ride’s specifications; good thing the real Atlas doesn’t ride 15 feet off the ground.

Ford’s new Atlas concept truck was on the floor and looking good. Viewed by some auto journalists as the next-generation F-150, it was certainly drawing some attention from the crowd. Photo-bomb courtesy of Strathcom’s David Lord!

The 2014 Fisker Karma

The Fisker Karma looked great and is probably the sexiest fuel efficient car out there. Too bad the price means it’s still only affordable to the Justin Biebers of the world.

The new Chevy Impala was there: you be the judge. The 2014 models should be rolling out shortly from Ontario’s Ashawa assembly plant, so it won’t be long before they hit the streets.
